It is an active swimmer, with its last pair of walking legs adapted to a paddle-like shape to accommodate swimming.\u00a0Blue crabs may grow to a carapace\u00a0width of 23\u00a0cm (9\u00a0in). The blue crab is a bottom-dweller found in a variety of habitats. Unlike other\u00a0fisheries\u00a0affected by climate<a title=\"Climate change and fisheries\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Climate_change_and_fisheries\">\u00a0<\/a>change,\u00a0blue crab is expected to do well; warming causes better breeding conditions, more survivable winters, and a greater range of habitable areas in the Atlantic coast. It\u00a0is an omnivore, eeating both plants and animals.
