Picarel (Lat. Spicara flexuosa). Leaves in schools above different substrates from 20-150 m deep. Grows till 18 cm and reaches around 200 g. There is usually one large dark blotch above the tip of the pectoral fin. Feeds with small invertebrates, usually with crabs. It is a protogynous hermaphrodite, starting life as a female and later changing into a male. Catches by trawls, setnets, bottom trawls and handlines.
